    The Polyethylene Process Engineering Team Leader reports to our Integrated Services Leader at the Joffre Site and works integrally within a highly matrixed leadership team. This role provides direct people leadership to the Polyethylene Process Engineers and support for the polyethylene business at our Joffre Manufacturing site. The role will also work with the team leaders of the other discipline groups within the polyethylene units as well as with Manufacturing West leadership to ensure safe, reliable and competitive operation of our polyethylene assets.

     

     Responsibilities: 

    • Provide technical resources and functional support to help the Polyethylene business achieve results in Responsible Care, production, quality and cost improvements through leadership, setting and achieving key performance indicators, and initiating improvement programs. 
    • Provide mentorship/coaching/timely feedback to process engineering for performance and development.
    • Demonstrate leadership and model the principles of Ethics and Compliance, Responsible Care ® and Sustainability.
    • Anticipate future possibilities, actively seek opportunities and provide leadership in continuous improvement and change initiatives to drive improvement to business results, in support of and in conjunction with standardization work
    • Lead collaboration between various business units, site groups, and cross organizational stakeholders to align goals and achieve key business results
    • Challenge the status quo, seek continuous improvement and assurance in the area of work flow processes, people effectiveness and relative competitive position for Process Engineers.
    • Work collectively with peers on the Integrated Services Leadership Team to provide technical discipline leadership to foster collaboration, leverage learnings, and strengthen skills to promote functional excellence in process engineering within Manufacturing West.
    • Leading change in Polyethylene manufacturing in support of implementing game changing technology through collaboration with Centre for Applied Research

    Qualifications: 

     

    The successful candidate will have a degree or technical diploma with more than 10 years of varied and increasing level of responsibility and experience in a manufacturing environment. Formal leadership experience with a demonstrated track record to achieve results, ability to drive step change improvement and influence others is strongly preferred. 

    • Eng. designation is an asset as it offers additional flexibility for the role, however it is not a requirement
    • Must have strong business acumen/ working knowledge in the polyethylene business
    • Demonstrated dedication to NOVA Chemicals Responsible Care ® commitments and excellent personal safety leadership.
    • Ability to internalize the values, mission and vision of the business and externalize them to the organization.
    • Broad base knowledge of Manufacturing including Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and Project Management.
    • Demonstrated competency in applying Leadership principles.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
    • Demonstrated excellence in people leadership and communication that fosters accountability, ownership, and motivation of employees. 
    • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a team environment and relate well with people inside and outside the organization. 
    • Ability to balance strategic and tactical thinking taking into account the big picture, both short and long term.
