    Overview

    The Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for project development and execution of major projects exceeding $20-MM USD across NOVA Chemicals. These projects are implemented by a disciplined application of NOVA Chemicals’ Project Development and Implementation (PDI) process in an outsourced mode with various EP or EPC contractors. PMO is also responsible for the development and updating of the Corporate Engineering Standards.

     

    In this role, you will plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, and application of engineering principles and techniques on Major Projects. In conjunction with the Principal Engineer, you will also be responsible for supporting proposed project plans. 

     

    You will assist in critical/complex petrochemical plant engineering development through to construction and receive technical guidance from our Technical Experts on unusual or complex problems. You will review work performed by other engineers and designers assigned to perform specific duties and provide technical decision approval for that work.

    • Providing a discipline leadership role in the design of capital projects, including technical leadership, guidance, and review of work performed by others such as EPC personnel, vendor submissions, or other design staff
    • Preparing or assisting in preparation of detailed studies, designs, reports or proposals and performing document reviews for the work of others.
    • Planning, scheduling and conducting specific activities of engineering work for project stages including support for construction and commissioning
    • Ensuring past operational experiences are brought forward to improve quality of deliverables
    • Contributing to bid preparation and evaluations, HAZOPs, audits, VIP implementation and project scope review
    • Performing or assisting in the performance of problem analysis and original design development
    • Liaising effectively with vendors, EPC personnel, technical experts, operations and maintenance
    • Supporting the use and interpretation of and adherence to Project Standards
    • Providing in-depth technical expertise and consulting to address Responsible Care issues within their area of work and/or across their discipline.

     

    Qualifications:

     

    To be successful in this role, we need you to be a Professional Engineer with a strong technical knowledge of mechanical engineering and specifically rotating equipment. There is a significant amount of travel expected for this role within the next two years, with a possible temporary assignment relocation after that. You must have a valid passport with the ability to travel.
