    Overview

    The NOVA Chemicals' Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for project development and execution of major projects exceeding $20-MM USD across the company. These projects are implemented by a disciplined application of NOVA Chemicals’ Project Development and Implementation (PDI) process and Corporate Engineering Standards in an outsourced mode with various EP or EPC contractors. The PMO is also responsible for the development and updating of the Corporate Engineering Standards.

     

    In this role, your primary responsibility will be the management, development and maintenance of all NOVA Corporate Engineering Standards related to the piping discipline to support operating facilities and all capital projects. You may also support the PMO office in maintaining other Engineering Standards or addressing complex technical issues depending on your experience.

     

    You will perform most assignments independently with instructions provided around the general results expected. You will receive technical guidance from the Principal Engineer and other Technical Experts.

    • Providing leadership in the management of Corporate Engineering Standards and Specifications,
    • Supporting the use and interpretation of Corporate Engineering Standards and Specifications and adherence during projects,
    • Developing, reviewing and approving all piping material specifications, including calculations, for code and regulatory compliance,
    • Preparing and maintaining NOVA Chemicals valve specifications,
    • Preparing and maintaining written piping standards,
    • Coordinating reviews of Engineering Standards and Specifications within NOVA Chemicals and resolving any issues,
    • Providing technical leadership, guidance, and review of work performed by others such as EPC personnel, vendor submissions, or other design staff in your area of expertise,
    • Participating in or leading project peer reviews in your area of expertise,
    • Liaising effectively with vendors, EPC personnel, technical experts, operations & maintenance and regulators as required,
    • Providing in-depth technical expertise and consulting to address Responsible Care issues within your area of work and/or across your discipline.

     

    Qualifications:

     

    To be successful in this role, we need you to be a Professional Engineer with experience in piping design, layout, stress analysis and development of piping material specifications and engineering standards. Your experience in both field and major projects as well as interest in other areas within the mechanical disciplines would be a great fit for this role. A varied amount of travel is expected for this role, therefore, you must have a valid passport.
