Our Technical Service team, based out of the Centre for Performance Applications in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking a Technical Services Specialist candidate who is interested in taking on exciting challenges within a rapidly growing company. The successful candidate will provide technical support for customers in one of our targeted polyethylene growth markets for NOVA Chemicals. This position will be based in Calgary, Alberta Canada.  



  • Collaborate with R&D team in product development and application development projects;
  • Participate in a cross-functional market focused team tasked with establishing NOVA Chemicals as the leading supplier of Polyethylene in North America;
  • Develop sales tools and potentially present final product(s) at conferences;
  • Provide customer technical support such as attending customer qualification trials, offering processing advice, provide product related training and troubleshooting expertise;
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction through timely and effective resolution of customer complaints;
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers and other stakeholders;
  • Active application and support of Responsible Care principles and procedures;
  • Support various product quality initiatives;
  • Other tasks as required.



  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical) degree with up to 3 years of related experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships;
  • Well-developed communication skills including presentation and technical writing skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Strong problem-solving and trouble shooting skills;
  • Well-developed critical thinking skills;
  • Aptitude for creative thinking;
  • Ability to lead projects;
  • Effective time management/organizational skills;
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time throughout the U.S and Canada.

This position requires the successful candidate to:

  • Travel up to 50% throughout the U.S and Canada, as such must be eligible to possess a Canadian passport.
  • Have a valid Canadian driver’s license.
