We are currently recruiting for an Instrument Technician to join the maintenance department for the E2, Ethylene 2 plant. This position is located at the Manufacturing West, Joffre Site and will report to the E1/E2 Maintenance Team Leader.  The successful candidate will be responsible for new installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance in the E2 unit and to support other units during turnaround.



  • Coordinate contractors during unit outages and turnaround
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting instrumentation issues along with identifying reliability and optimization opportunities.
  • Completing assigned tasks in a timely, safe and accurate manner, overcoming barriers and engaging others when required.
  • Supporting and executing capital and expense projects.
  • Interfacing with external groups including vendors, purchasing, and project teams.
  • Establishing new and maintaining existing preventative maintenance programs. 


The ideal candidate will possess a Valid Alberta or Interprovincial Journeyman Certification in Instrumentation or related trade with minimum 5 years of post-journeyman experience.   The candidate in this role will also be required to have:

  • Extensive experience with equipment: Allen Bradley PLCs, Triconex, DCS, Siemens Maxum Analyzers, Valve Link, and Bently Nevada.
  • 2 years of maintenance experience in a petrochemical or heavy industrial plant sites will be an asset
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and technical knowledge, and the ability to work effectively with Maintenance, Operations and Engineering Teams.
  • Working knowledge of computers, with preference given to the Microsoft suite of products and SAP.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Responsible Care practices and Safety procedures establishing new and maintaining existing preventative maintenance programs
  • Willingness to work overtime and accept callouts during emergency events.
  • A self-starter who has the ability to manage workload with minimal supervision, demonstrated prioritization skills and communication skills with the ability to build good relations as team member.
