Overview

The HR Business Consulting Team at NOVA Chemicals is responsible for the Talent Acquisition (TA) strategy for the company. The Talent Acquisition Team (within HR Business Consulting) facilitates the execution of the Strategy through the management of the recruitment process with hiring teams.

As one of the Talent Acquisition team's senior TA Advisors/Specialists you will work in collaboration with the Human Resources Business Partner and Leadership to understand the business strategy and associated strategic workforce plans. You will specifically facilitate the full Recruitment Process Life Cycle (end to end) including the sourcing strategy, screening, interviewing, de-briefing, job offer negotiation, communication and follow-up.

The position can be based from one of the following NOVA Chemicals locations: Manufacturing East Corporate Centre located in Sarnia, Ontario or at our NOVA Head Office located in downtown Calgary, Alberta, US Corporate Center located in Pittsburgh PA.  There is expected travel determined by recruitment workload and balancing across the team. Below are some of the specific responsibilities of this role:

 

Responsibilities:

 

Provide guidance to hiring teams and leaders during full-cycle recruitment to ensure an excellent client and candidate experience. This includes developing recruitment and sourcing strategies, communication and follow up, cold calling and overseeing screening, interviewing, and de-briefing. Specifically:

  • Provide value-added talent acquisition related advice to hiring managers and influence talent decisions, challenging Hiring Leads to make the best hire possible
  • Work effectively with hiring managers – and be prepared to address issues in a direct and collaborative way
  • Conduct interview training with hiring teams
  • Provide expertise on the development of interview questions utilizing various behavioral, situational and competency questions as appropriate
  • Participate in the selection process with the hiring teams and facilitate the offer process with the hiring leader
  • Work closely with the Human Resources Business Partners to ensure alignment in strategy (including initial approach, managing recruitment outcomes, etc.)
  • Able to leverage technologies to locate, engage, and attract prospective candidates e.g. job boards and other channels to source talent
  • Participate and lead some project work related to Talent Acquisition deliverables and potentially overall HR Business Consulting team deliverables.
  • Provide mentorship to team members, in support of their further development

 

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in business/management with a major in Human Resources and 8 years of full-cycle recruitment experience in a related industry. In addition, they will possess the following: 

  • Superior communication and facilitation skills to coach, influence and guide teams through decision making
  • Ability to manage 20+ requisitions on an on-going basis through full-cycle recruitment (starting with development of sourcing strategy, including offer preparation and presentation with the hiring leader).
  • Results orientation with ability to proactively anticipate issues and take initiative to recommend solutions.
  • Build effective relationships with clients and colleagues across the organization
  • Self-motivated with strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Strong capacity for change with continuous improvement approach
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with restricted and sensitive information
  • Previous experience with SAP and an ATS is an asset

Notes:

  • travel is expected (typically to NOVA locations in Canada and the US); frequency is varied based on work demand; therefore the candidate must possess a valid passport and be able to travel within North America. 
  • work flexible hours due to supporting business groups in multiple time zones
  • Consideration may be made for individuals with Human Resources Business Partner experience complemented by at least 4 years of full-cycle recruiting experience.
